Teknologi audio film yang berkembang dari analog menjadi digital masih jarang dipahami oleh penikmat film yang kebanyakan hanya menikmati alur cerita film dan suara yang disajikan tanpa memperhatikan teknologi yang disematkan pada film yang ditonton. Para pembuat film juga masih jarang menerapkan audio spasial / multi kanal pada film yang dibuatnya, sebagian besar pembuat film masih menerapkan audio mono dan stereo. Teknologi audio spasial saat ini banyak diterapkan pada film, televisi digital, augmented reality, virtual, dan Game. Teknik pengumpulan data pada penelitian ini dilakukan dengan pengumpulan referensi yang relevan dengan objek yang diteliti. Hasil pengamatan audio spasial beserta teknologi pendukungnya dilakukan menggunakan metode analisis isi yang merupakan teknik penelitian untuk membuat kesimpulankesimpulan yang dapat ditiru, dan dengan data yang valid dengan memperhatikan konteksnya. Hasil penelitian terhadap pengamatan perkembangan produksi film menunjukkan bahwa banyaknya persyaratan dan rumitnya varian teknologi spasial antara lain teknologi perekamannya, monitor, dan ruang akustiknya dan ruang mixingnya berdampak pada pembuat film jarang menerapkan teknologi spasial pada film. Hali ini disebabkan karena untuk menyiapkan perangkat pendukung teknologi audio spasial selain menyita waktu juga membutuhkan biaya yang cukup mahal. This research discusses the emergence of spatial audio, the concept of spatial audio, stereo techniques, surround, spatial audio replication and the development of spatial audio. Film audio technology which has developed from analog to digital is still rarely understood by film lovers, most of whom only enjoy the film storyline and the sound presented without paying attention to the technology embedded in the film being watched. Filmmakers also rarely apply spatial/multi-channel audio to the films they make, most filmmakers still use mono and stereo audio. Spatial audio technology is currently widely applied to films, digital television, augmented reality, virtual reality and games. The data collection technique in this research was carried out by collecting references that were relevant to the object under study. The results of spatial audio observations and supporting technology were carried out using the content analysis method, which is a research technique for making conclusions that can be replicated, and with valid data, taking into account the context. The results of research observing the development of film production show that the many requirements and complexity of spatial technology variants, including recording technology, monitors, and acoustic rooms and mixing rooms, have an impact on filmmakers rarely applying spatial technology to films.
