abstract: This literature research analyzes the basic technical concepts of digital television
from the many references/books in foreign languages. Several theories of digital
television techniques discuss a lot about coding, multiplexing, and digital television
formats. Data collection techniques used by collecting library materials that are
relevant to the object under study and processed by: editing, organizing, finding.
The results of the observation of the basic concepts of digital television techniques
are carried out using the method of content analysis, which is a research technique
to make inferences that can be replicated, and with valid data by taking into account
the context. This method is used to analyze the entire discussion about the
background of the emergence of digital television until it developed to replace the
existence of analog television, examine the technical concepts of digital television,
and examine the existence of the development of digital television applications in
the industrial world. Several concepts obtained from this literature research are
expected to make it easier for readers to understand the importance of migrating
analog television broadcasts to digital television which is too long delayed and left
behind from neighboring countries. According to the government's target,
Indonesia will carry out the analog switch off (ASO) which is divided into 3 stages
throughout Indonesia until the end of 2022.
