This research aims to uncover issues related to Gorga Si Mataniari and the lives of the Meat Village community in the artwork ?Memories of Toba?. Memories of Toba is an artwork resulting from the creative process of the Meat Village community, which tells about the customs and traditions of the Batak Toba ethnic group as well as the life of the Meat Village Community. Focusing on the study of representasion. This research uses Stuart Hall`s theory of representation. The research applies qualitative descriptive methods with participant observation. For the data collection process, the researcher uses observation and interview techniques. This results of this study show that Gorga Si Mataniari and the lives of the Meat Village community are represented in the artwork ?Memories of Toba?. The forms of representation of Gorga Si Mataniari and the lives of the Meat Village community are shown through three scenes, namely the birth scene, the life scene, and the death scene.

ABSTRAK
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan permasalahan yang berkaitan dengan Gorga Si Mataniari dan kehidupan masyarakat Desa Meat pada karya seni Memories of Toba. Memories of Toba adalah karya seni hasil dari proses kreatif masyarakat Desa Meat, yang menceritakan tentang adat istiadat yang berlaku pada Suku Batak Toba serta kehidupan masyarakat Desa Meat. Penelitian ini berfokus pada kajian representasi. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori representasi Stuart Hall. Penelitian ini menerapkan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode observasi partisipasi. Untuk proses pengumpulan data, peneliti menggunakan teknik observasi dan wawancara. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukan bahwa Gorga Si Mataniari dan kehidupan masyarakat Desa Meat merepresentasikan hasil karya seni Memories of Toba. Adapun bentuk representasi dari Gorga Si Mataniari dan kehidupan masyarakat Desa Meat ditunjukkan lewat 3 adegan, yakni adegan kelahiran, adegan kehidupan, dan adegan kematian.
