Abstract

This study reveals about dance forms and the creative process of Evi Septimardiati in the creation of the Mina Tani Mask Dance. Mina Tani Mask Dance is included in the form of mask dance. Mask Dance is a form of performing arts in which the dancers wear masks on their faces. Masks have special characteristics that refer to stylization and figures, differences in character, types of colors, textures, ornaments, and how to wear masks. Elements of form are described using the basic concept of choreography proposed by Y. Sumandiyo Hadi and an explanation of the creative process is analyzed through the theory of the creative process proposed by Jessie Oleson Moore, namely Inspiration, Percolation, Preparation, Creation, and Reflection. This research is qualitative with descriptive analysis method through data collection techniques, namely; observation, interview, and literature study. The results of this study indicate that the Mina Tani Mask Dance is a New Creation Dance with the mask genre which presents the social conditions of the community and the results of Pati culture related to local products, agriculture, and fisheries. Evi Septimardiati's creative process in creating the Mina Tani Mask Dance went through the stages of research, reflection, preparation, dancer's process, and evaluation.
