Abstract

The selection of the text with the title Kura-kura dan Bekicot by Eugene Ionesco as a final project is motivated by the imbalance of women's position. This inequality which causes the position and influence of women in society is considered backward and excluded from men. The position of women has always been sidelined in all fields, and is limited to appreciations. The work process begins with collecting data using qualitative methods. The character characterization process was created with a representative acting approach. A representative approach as a manifestation of the relevance of the show to reality, delivered through three stages, namely exploration, orientation, improvisation. This artistic creation representation of the social class in Indonesian society, also the characters are reflection of human nature and attitude. This artistic creation is presented in a theater performance with a form of comedy tragedy and uses the concept of an absurd theater staging style. The concept of the show that displays a lot of things that are pseudo and full of meaning. Martin Esslin, the absurd playwright writer about life, has existentially expressed his powerlessness dramatically through his works. Albert Camus also said that the world must be viewed in terms that do not make sense. The absurd does not speak of the absurdity of the human condition; there only presents a performance through concrete stage images.
