Abstract

ABSTRACT This thesis presents and analyzes the events in the phenomenon of the lunar eclipse. The composition of music that describes the psychological situation of the ancients, a social vulnerability that is anxieties of the ancients who believe in the myths of ancient Java. The form of the cultivation of his music was created from the idea of choir vocal cultivation and traditional vocal cultivation, such as pathetan, kombangan, ada-ada, sulukan, gerongan, macapat and sindhenan. Two problems raised in this thesis are: (1) How are the vocal choirs and the vocal cultivators of the pathetan tradition, kombangan, ada-ada, sulukan, gerongan, macapat and sindhenan when combined; and (2) Why does Candragrahana's composition combine choral vocal work and traditional vocal work? These two problems are examined based on the theory of sacred music and ritual. The methods used in making composition work are observation, orientation, exploration, improvisation and imagination. Research data collected through literature studies, documentation studies and interviews with musical artists and composition lecturers. The results showed that the cultivation of choir vocals and vocal traditions such as pathetan, gerongan, kombangan, ada-ada, sulukan, macapat and sindhenan create a strong impression in the cultivation of his music. Depictions of events in a lunar eclipse were created through the writer's imagination in musical ideas. Each type of vowel has different characters, different vocal choral characters and vocal traditions such as pathetan, sindhenan, kombangan, sulukan, ada-ada, macapat and gerongan are combined in a sequence of presentation of composition works to produce form, type and varied flavors in one concert concert composition.
