Abstract

As Basic Experience in Education, art has important roles such as communication means to somebody else or culture environment, attitude and personality development, determinant or giving opportunity for other intelligences. Art education need for designed, formulated and applied by school culture and life transformation. Therefore, system and model of character education according to Indonesian social and cultural contexts with its slogan namely Bhinneka Tunggal Ika need for developed. Melayu dance training at SMA Negeri 3 Boyolali is one of student talent development activities that not only focus to logical aspect but also affective aspect (ethic and aesthetic). By Melayu dance learning (for example Zapin and Sapu Tangan Dances), student are introduced to gesture or movement in depth and many aspects result in a whole dance repertoire such as origin, content, and following custom. Ceramah or lecturing method aimed to give related material; beside that, there is dialogue and discussion session related with given material (Zapin and Sapu Tangan Dance). It result in development of critical thinking and learning atmosphere with tolerance attitude, care for other, and opened attitude will be created. Result of dance training is student can perform Zapin and Sapu Tangan Dance proudly and happily because they receive a new experience that is perform dance from other region and use costume that they never use before.
